This place saved me money & my car!! So what happened was my car was stuck in reverse while I had it on drive. Tried switching it to all the other gears, but it was still stuck in reverse. So I shut off the car to 'reset' it thinking that'll work. Nope! Now it didn't want to start. My car was dead. I'm thinking, there goes my transmission..I would have to cough up a lot money to get this fixed! We towed my car near Chalard's shop last night, which was less than 10mins away & they were already closed. (That tow cost me $100!!!) The next morning, my boyfriend went to the shop briefly told him about the situation and Mr. Chalard just told him to give him the keys, asked where my car was parked, and that he will call him when my car was ready. Mind you, Mr. Chalard was on the phone while my boyfriend was explaining to him where my car was parked and also said that he was busy that day and will try to fit my car in his schedule. Anyway, my boyfriend got a call from the shop about a couple hours later and told him that my car would be ready in an hour and would only cost my $50 for the repair. Yes, only $50!! I was so happy when I heard the news. We picked up my car after I got off from work and it was running smooth. I would highly recommend him to anyone! He is straight to the point! But if you're the type that wants to talk about your day with him... then perhaps you should go somewhere else. Mr. Chalard's seriously saved me TIME & MONEY!

Charlard's is the best mechanic shop I have been to period. Charlard is not much for customer service and being social, but like everyone else says on this page, he is HONEST and charges a very reasonable rate for his services. He recently charged me about $160 for fixing a hard to find issue involving an axle of my car. If I would have brought my car to my past mechanic, I believe I would have been charged over $600 for the work. Give him a call the day before you want to bring your car in. He'll do a good job and you'll see why there are so many others here that give him 5 stars.

The owner does not talk much.....but he is very nice and straight forward. I had my car checked in for an issue with the AC condenser and they wanted to charge me almost 900 dollars. I found this pace thanks to Yelp and I really feel grateful because my car was fixed in 4 hours for less than half of the cost my dealer was going to charge me. Definitely bringing the car back here again whenever something goes wrong with it.

I've been coming here for over 10 years and chalards can't be beat. He's straight forward with no BS. You can totally trust this place.

I thought I need to replace my car battery so I ask AAA to tow my car to Chalard's place. He doesn't chit chat with you but he is the most HONEST mechanic I have ever seen!!!!! He find out the reason why my battery was out all the time ( some weird stuff happen with my fog light:/) and switched my terminal, now my car runs like a new one !! SUPER AWESOME!

Well...Mr. Chalard is as great as others say. Took my mercedes in for a power steering line leak and to get the mirror lamp fixed...Mr. Chalard fixed the power steering lines at no charge (said they were loose and just needed tightening ...after the stupid dealer wanted to replace them for a ridiculous sum of money)...and just charged me minimal labor of $40 to replace the mirror lamp plus what the parts cost. His prices are reasonable and he is very honest. If Mr. Chalard ever goes out of business or retires...I am sunk for a mechanic of this caliber.

I want to add my recommendation of Chalard to the list below. Yes it's true that he is not very talkative, but he gets the job done. Went in for problems with my starter, and spent less than $200, which is a win in my book. I've been looking for a mechanic for my aging car, and I think I've finally found one. By the way there is a Thrifty Car Rental across the street, and Enterprise is a short walk away.

Honest and skilled mechanic. The only difficulty is we need to be very clear about the problem. He will fix it clean and complete. We wont get that much help in preventive check and general service. Best mechanic in Burbank but remember be clear with your problems to fix. Thanks.

Great place; highly recommended. No fuss, no frills, just good solid work from a good guy who knows his business. Had my radiator, water pump, and hoses replaced. Solid work; solid guys. 2016 Edit: This review is for the old Chalard's. I have never tried the new FAS.

After all these years, and all these times I never did, today I made a darn YELP account just so I could rate Chalard's Auto Repair as high as possible. I was told at multiple car repair shops that to find out why my 'check engine' light was on they would have to charge me $65 for a diagnostic, and I would have to leave the car for hours. Being a workin' lady in LA its hard for one to find the time if most places close at 6pm, not to mention getting one's self around this city without a car. Thank goodness for Chalard!! I went in on my lunch break and was told he would need the car for an hour. Only one hour? I was incredulous! But lo and behold, after an hour he had done a diagnostic, repaired the problem for me AND only charged me 20 bucks for the whole thing!! In a hot city full of thousands of unknown and ominous ghostly auto-body shops, I am so grateful for you help Chalard, I am already recommending you to all my pals. If you see a guy with a real big gap between his front teeth come into the shop soon, then thats because I sent him !
