We blew the engine on our 2005 Chrysler Town and Country.. when the tow truck brought the van over to his shop Chalard paid the driver.. nice! He quoted us $1600 for the heads and then discovered a piston was shot too but didn't charge us more, the part was $400. He also fixed my door locking problem and some other minor repairs.. all inclusive. We were quoted $3000 by another mechanic. Very nice man and to the point. No BS

I'm so glad that Chalard's get such good ratings... it's so hard to find a great mechanic, and he is the best. Honest, trustworthy, skilled... he's a triple threat. Chalard may be the most honest mechanic on the planet. He does excellent work and his prices are very reasonable. His place is always busy, so you may want to call ahead if you have a lot of work that needs to be done. I highly recommend him.

He is the most honest mechanic that I have ever been to in my life. I was having a problem with my car a couple of months ago... and after reading about similar problems online, I thought that maybe it could be my fuel pump (2001 Hyundai Elantra) I took it to Pep Boys... and they said, "Yes, probably the fuel pump." Because my fuel pump is very hard to access, this was going to be very expensive. After reading some online reviews, I took it to Chalards for a second opinion. He asked that I leave it with him for a couple of hours. When I came back, it was fixed! All I needed was a tune up and some other minor adjustments. Total bill. 35 bucks. I just had another problem with the MAP and 02 sensors in my car. I brought it to him and he suggested that I get the parts used from a junk yard so I could save money. I ended up getting them both off of ebay and dropped off my car with the parts for him to put on. I came back in an hour and a half... and he didnt charge me anything! BEST MECHANIC IN THE WORLD!!! VERY FAIR & TRUSTWORTHY! Awesome, amazing, fair, knowledgable, very reasonable rates. I can't say enough GREAT things about Chalard's. They saved my life and did my repairs for about half of what I would have paid my old mechanic. I found Chalard though Yelp, and so glad I did! Chalard is an expert mechanice and very very fair. I've had so many bad experiences with mechanics in the past that when my very reliable Toyota Rav4 needed major mechanical my head was spinning. He actually came recommended by another mechanic down the street who was a specialist. My fiance came with me to make sure there wasn't any funny business. He admitted it was a very expensive job, over $1,000, even more at the dealer, but he was kind and gave me a big break on the price. We checked other places to make sure and he was by far the most reasonable. He did a terrific job. My car felt like new. Went back to him for other minor fixings. Funny thing is everytime I see him he's in a different mood. I think it depends on how busy he is which he usually is. He's never really talkative and he's usually serious, but I was pleasantly surprised when he joked with me on the phone. He said "Sure, bring the car in anytime, but don't bring it in when it's raining. I don't want to be swimming!" Anyone who knows Chalard knows this is a gem coming from him!

I recently brought my Honda Civic in to have the compressor in the air conditioner replaced. Chalard's Auto Repair did a wonderful job. I heard of them via a referral from a friend who highly recommended them and is also in the auto business. He doesn't know how they can do such great work and such affordable price. I drove all the way from Carlsbad to have my car worked on and would do it again. Chalard's provided exceptional service in a timely fashion and came through with everything they promised-actually they came in slightly less than quoted which was a nice surprise. On top of the great pricing they provided a year warranty!! The owner is a very sweet soft spoken man and very easy to business with and support. I highly recommend this auto repair shop.

My family is close with Chalard and has been bringing their cars into his shop for many, many years. He'll get the job done, try to save you a dollar, while not cutting corners or with any shadiness. Yes, his place does look crowded and messy, not as pretty as the dealership you're so comfortable with. It's the quality of the work that counts. Don't let the looks of the joint deceive you. I will warn you now, his place is busy. Sometimes it may take a little longer for your car to get fixed but how can you blame him when everyone is trying to go to him to get their cars serviced. If you have the patience, then you'll be fine. If you want it fixed right there and then, you might want to look elsewhere. Besides that, Chalard is legit. My family has never had any issues with bringing our cars to his shop.
